Features

Features for coast pilot teams

Move a paragraph from draft to approved output without retyping it. Work through the steps on this page in order.

Edit, review and publish from one approved source

Each paragraph is written once, with its type, geography and chart numbers. The same approved text then becomes PDF, web pages and JSON.

Edit

Typed paragraphs with geography and chart numbers. Open a chapter, add a paragraph, pick its type and fill the fields beside the text.

Review

Assignments, comments, suggestions and approval. Nothing publishes without a named approver and a locked approved version.

Publish

Editions and weekly sets as PDF, web pages and JSON. Run the checklist, preview, publish and keep a copy of every output.

Do it in this order

Follow these five steps for a first paragraph, then repeat them for each weekly change set.

  1. Open the publication and chapter

Sign in, choose Publications, open the volume you need, then open its chapter in reading order. Add a chapter from a template if the chapter does not exist yet.

  2. Write the paragraph

Add a paragraph, pick one type, write the text, enter geography, chart numbers and source, then save with a short reason. Save again only when the text is ready to send.

  3. Send it for review

Select the paragraph, choose a reviewer, set a due date and add a message that says what to check, then send the assignment. The status moves to in review.

  4. Approve it

The approver reads the paragraph in context, resolves comments, accepts or rejects each suggestion, then approves or returns it with a reason. Only approved paragraphs can join an edition.

  5. Build and publish the edition

Create an edition or weekly change set, add approved paragraphs in order, run the approval and completeness checks, preview PDF, web pages and JSON, then publish and confirm the files produced.

What each part of the workspace does

Open the part that matches your task. Each part links back to the paragraph it came from.

Publications and chapters

Hold each volume as ordered chapters. Open a publication to see chapter count, current edition and open change requests. Add, reorder and rename chapters in the chapter tree.

Structured paragraphs

Store each nautical statement once as a typed paragraph. Filter by type, area, chart number, status and owner, then open history, where used and linked change requests.

Change requests

Receive reports from mariners and field units. Link each report to the paragraphs it changes and show the sender its status. See how reporting works.

Review and approval

Move work from editor to reviewer to approver. Leave a comment or suggest replacement text, then approve or return it with a reason. See the review steps.

Editions and weekly change sets

Freeze approved paragraphs into a named edition or weekly set. Compare the set with the last edition, lock it, and record exact paragraph versions. See how sets are built.

Publishing outputs

Turn an approved edition into print ready PDF, web pages and a JSON data file. Read the build log when a build fails, then fix the named paragraphs and try again.

Public reader portal

Let any reader browse, search and download approved content without an account, always from the same approved snapshot, with volume, edition date and paragraph reference on each page.

Reports and exports

Answer the numbers leaders ask for from the same records the team works in, then export a dated listing as CSV or a weekly set as JSON.

First run setup

Take a new workspace from sign in to a first approved publication in a guided order, with a checklist that shows what is still open.

People, roles and access

Invite by email, set a role and groups, and see last sign in and pending invitations. Check who can view, edit, review, approve and publish one item at a time.

Templates and reusable content

Give every new publication, chapter and paragraph the same correct starting structure, and keep repeated wording in one reusable block.

Checks and accessibility

Catch missing references, broken links and accessibility problems before publish, then record the result on the edition.

Who does what

Separate edit, review, approve and publish so no one approves their own work.

  • Editors and cartographers write and edit typed paragraphs
  • Field units and mariners report changes and check status
  • Reviewers comment and suggest, and do not change live text
  • Approvers record the decision, with name and date
  • Publication managers build editions and publish outputs

See it with a sample chapter

Bring a sample chapter and walk through editing, review, approval and publishing with the team.
