See who the product is for, how it is organised and how to start.

Who it is for

Each person has a clear job in the workspace, from writing a paragraph to reading a published edition.

Nautical editors

Write and correct typed paragraphs with geography and chart numbers, and save each version with a reason.

Cartographers

Check chart numbers, geography and coordinates on paragraphs before they go for review.

Field units

Report a change from the field, follow the report to a decision and read the published correction.

Reviewers

Read paragraphs in context, leave comments and suggest replacement text without changing the source.

Approvers

Read the final text and history, approve or return it with a reason and lock the approved version.

Publication managers

Build editions and weekly change sets, run checks and publish PDF, web pages and JSON.

Mariners

Read published editions without an account, report a change and check the status of a report.

How it is organised

Follow the steps in order to move a paragraph from a first draft to a published edition.

  1. Create a publication

Open Publications and create a publication. Set its title and region.

  2. Add chapters in order

Add chapters to the publication and put them in reading order.

  3. Write typed paragraphs

Add a paragraph to a chapter. Pick its type, write the text and add geography and chart numbers.

  4. Send the paragraph for review

Assign a reviewer, set a due date and add a message. The paragraph moves to in review.

  5. Approve the paragraph

An approver reads the final text, resolves comments and records approval with a date. The approved version is locked.

  6. Build an edition or weekly change set

Add approved paragraphs in order, run the checks and lock the edition or weekly change set.

  7. Publish the outputs

Choose PDF, web pages or JSON, preview the output, publish and confirm the files produced.
